NATIONAL EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT AND AUTHORIZATION
MÜDEK was evaluated by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) for the first time in 2007, and it was decided at the YÖK General Assembly held on 16 November 2007 to recognize MÜDEK as a national quality assurance agency dealing with national, sectoral and program specific competencies in engineering programs of higher education institutions and to issue MÜDEK with the Quality Evaluation and Registration Certificate valid for a period of five years. Thus, MÜDEK became the first agency being issued the Quality Evaluation and Registration Certificate and also the first agency to get it for a period of 5 years in Turkey.
MÜDEK was re-evaluated by YÖK in 2013 and it was decided at the YÖK General Assembly held on February 01, 2013 to extend the validity of MÜDEK’s Quality Evaluation and Registration Certificate for a period of 5 years until January 31, 2018. Thus, MÜDEK became the first agency to get it for two consecutive periods of 5 years each.
MÜDEK was evaluated by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) in 2018 and it was decided at the YÖKAK meeting held on January 31, 2018, to extend the validity of MÜDEK’s Quality Evaluation and Registration Certificate for another period of 5 years until January 31, 2023. Thus, MÜDEK became the first agency to get it for three consecutive periods of 5 years each.
INTERNATIONAL EXTERNAL ASSESSMENTS AND AUTHORIZATIONS
EUR-ACE Label:
MÜDEK was evaluated by the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) for the first time in 2009 and authorized to award EUR-ACE Label by the decision made by ENAEE Administrative Council on January 21, 2009 to its accredited Bachelor engineering programs for a period of 5 years starting from January 21, 2009 until 31 December, 2013. Thus, MÜDEK became the 7th accreditation agency with such an authorization in 2009.
MÜDEK was evaluated twice in 2013 and 2018 by ENAEE within the scope of ENAEE Standards and Guidelines for Accreditation Agencies and re-authorized to award EUR-ACE Label by the decision made by the ENAEE Administrative Council on
MÜDEK is one of the 15 accreditation agencies in Europe having the authorization to issue EUR-ACE Label as of 2019.
External Evaluation for Compliance with ESG:
An international expert panel coordinated by ENAEE assessed MÜDEK in 2013 for compliance with European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) Parts 2 and 3. The assessment panel concluded that MÜDEK is fully compliant with all the ESG Standards 2.1 to 2.8 and 3.1 to 3.8. ESG Part 2 and Part 3 define the standards for the external quality assurance of higher education in the European Higher Education Area and the standards for the external quality assurance agencies involved in this process, respectively.
Washington Accord Signatory:
MÜDEK was evaluated by a panel of experts coordinated by the Washington Accord (WA), a multi-party accreditation recognition agreement under the umbrella of International Engineering Alliance (IEA), and became a Provisional Signatory of Washington Accord on June 25, 2010, and upon another evaluation conducted in the following year accepted as a Signatory (Member) of Washington Accord on June 15, 2011.
MÜDEK, was re-evaluated by a Washington Accord Periodic Evaluation Team according to IEA Rules and Procedures in the 2016-2017 evaluation cycle. MÜDEK's Washington Accord Signatory status was extended for a period of 6 years until June 2023 in accordance with the proposal of the Washington Accord Periodic Evaluation Team at the Washington Accord meeting held in Anchorage, USA on June 21, 2017.
