Müdek Accreditation

Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) is a non-governmental organization operating in order to contribute to the improvement of the quality of engineering education in Turkey by carrying out accreditation, evaluation and information studies for various engineering education programs in our country. MÜDEK is recognized as a national quality assurance organization for the accreditation of engineering programs by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

MÜDEK was established in 2002 as an independent platform under the name of Engineering Evaluation Board by the Engineering Deans Council (MDK), which is composed of the deans of faculties providing engineering education in Turkey and the TRNC, in order to organize and conduct a detailed program for the evaluation of engineering undergraduate programs of these faculties. MÜDEK became an association in 2007. Except for the MÜDEK administrative staff, all individuals who take part in MÜDEK boards, committees, working groups and accreditation evaluation teams work on a voluntary basis, without any pay.

Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK);

- started the evaluation of engineering programs in 2003,

- became a member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) on November 17, 2006,

- became a non-governmental organization named Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association on January 25, 2007 by continuing to use the abbreviated name MÜDEK and gained legal entity.

- was officially recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) on 16 November, 2007 as a national quality assurance agency dealing with national, sectoral and program specific competencies in the engineering programs of higher education institutions, and this five-year recognition was renewed for a period of five years on 1 February 2013,

- was authorized by ENAEE until 31 December, 2013 to give the EUR-ACE Label to the engineering education programs to be accredited as of January 21, 2009, and this authorization was renewed on October 16, 2013 until December 31, 2018;

- became a Provisional Status Member of the IEA (International Engineering Alliance) Washington Accord on June 25, 2010;

- became a Full Member Signatory of IEA -Washington Accord on June 15, 2011.
